Description
Renovation of a foundry with a Mediterranean influence in Paris, blending history, personal experience, and architectural expertise. The project aims to rehabilitate a former first-floor foundry into a loft, accessible from a cobbled passageway that was once considered a street in its own right. Located in a historic artisanal district, this unique space will pay tribute to this heritage and accommodate the family's lifestyle.
From the very beginning, the two owners – partners in both life and work – wanted this space to be hybrid, accommodating both their family life and their respective professional agencies, with a Mediterranean influence. This dual purpose guided the initial design process, immediately raising the question of the balance between privacy and functionality.
After defining the foundations of the project, the identity of the space was reimagined. Located in Paris’s Oberkampf district, the loft stood out with a warm Mediterranean aesthetic, far from the typical New York style. This approach prioritises authenticity, friendliness, and light, whilst breaking away from industrial design codes.

The architectural design privileges raw and natural materials to create an authentic atmosphere. Earthy tones inspired by the Mediterranean, such as clay and terracotta, adorn the stone and brick walls. Traditional bejmat and zellige tiles cover the floors and certain walls, chosen for their handcrafted, natural appeal.
Each piece of furniture asserts the uniqueness of the space, blending antique pieces, Scandinavian design and iconic creations, while the Patagonia quartzite kitchen island combines with contemporary elements and natural fabrics, reflecting a distinct taste for authenticity and detail.

Today, this project stands as an exemplary renovation, where every element – from the choice of materials to the selection of furniture – contributes to creating a generous, bright, and deeply Mediterranean atmosphere.

The signature of Hazard Studio is written in the fluidity of spaces, the softness of curves, and the subtlety of transitions. The result: a living and working space where you truly feel at home, both anchored in its history and open to the future, in Paris like nowhere else.
